Default PVP Suggestions.

Hello, I am new to GW and looking to get into PVP. I find myself getting killed alot. I have a ELE/MO but I noticed I am getting owned pretty bad.

So I am thinking of creating a new char for PVP. My question is, which 2 professions would you suggest for someone learning to PVP ?

Mind you not, I don't mind loosing but you know how it is,

I know this is a good place to get answers and I am sure alot of you have alot more experance then I do.

Thanks...

Your best bet might be to check out the campfire subforum and the different subforums under it, each has various threads on the individual classes in the game as well as builds for both pve and pvp

There is no one best profession/secondary combo for PvP. You can check the Gladiator forum for PvP discussions concerning team builds and guildwiki at http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Build:Main_Page for individual builds that are in common use.

Guild Wars combat, whether PvP or PvE, is based on skill synergy and usage. For PvP, team builds are most important as each member needs skills/actions that complement each other members.

You can also use Observer Mode (on your menu) in game to see the builds in use.

Here's a few things you might be doing on your ele you shouldn't be doing, these are some common noob mistakes.

-Using mending or any healing skills on your ele. Just don't, healing is for primary monks. Don't even go /mo for rez in PvP always bring rez sig instead. If you really want some healign go for aura of restoration, an ele skill. Tough you probably won't need it. This is just basic PvP. There are soem wacky builds out there that use monk skills or healign from other professions, but as a beginner stay away from those. You'd actually be best off just getting familiar with your primary profession and not using any secondary at all.

-Using Flare or Fire Storm. Just don't. These are horrible skills that many noobs think are uber 1337, they aren't. You get a lot more damage and other effects from other skills.

-Make sure you always bring rez sig, ALWAYS, no exceptions. Except, AB of course or Factions Competitive Missions (Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry) because People are rezzed quickly automatically there.

Also make sure you have an elite and have max upgrades on your weapon/armor and have a Superior Vigor rune. These are easy to get in PvP because you only need a few thousand faction.

Res sig on an e/mo? Glyph of sacrifice + res chant is better if you've got a free skill slot. Also healing skills have their place on in e/mo in RA, AB, and GvG as a flag runner (e/mo's are great at powering out heal parties, aegis, healing breeze, and other spells if you bring second wind or ether prodigy).

You're right about mending, flare, and firestorm though, but try not to feed new players generalizations that will keep them from playing good builds.

That's why I said there are builds that use those skills to use later when you get used to PvP and have enough experience. A beginner is better off not using those skills now before thye figure out how to use them right. If they were using them right they shouldn't be asking how to get better. AT least, that's the way I'd go about it, some people might just throw new players into the fire and say, "Have fun." Most likely they won't have fun, but they may also learn and be much better off. It all depends on the person, but in my experience what I said is the easier way.

Skill slots aren't that important. Learn to kite, and you die a lot less.
